The Latvian State Centennial Program “Latvian School Bag” Opening Event “100 Latvian Stories in 100 Minutes” Has Become the Final of the Final Event of the Eventex Award 3. The Latvian School Bags Concert qualifies for the main prize in five categories – Best Art Event, Best Concert, Best Cultural Event Best Live Show, the best event in Europe.

In total, 331 events from 42 countries took part in this year’s Eventex Award, the results will be announced on March 26 this year. The opening of the Latvian School Bag took place on September 6, 2018 in Arena Riga, where a total of 6000 students from all 119 regions of Latvia met. The opening event was organized by the Ministry of Culture in cooperation with the Department of Education, Culture and Sports of the Riga City Council, producer Luka.
The concert featured the history, culture, traditions and values of Latvia from today’s point of view, the need for everyone to develop and grow continuously, creating the future Latvia. The concert was performed by Raimonds Pauls, violinist Daniil Bulayev, The Ludvig, Laima Jansone, Dagamba group, Matiss Chudar, Edavardi, dancer and choreographer Liene Grava, Justs Sirmais, Daumants Kalniņš, Auļi, soprano Marlen Keine, DJ Monsta and DJ Rudelies, symphony orchestra “DD” under the guidance of conductor Janis Liepins, dancers, cycling tralists “Karters” and other artists, uniting in unconventional combinations and encouraging young people themselves to be creative. Before the concert, Arena Riga enthusiastically tasted various creative experiments, got to know the backstage of cinema and animation, as well as shared the impressions they see Latvia one hundred years later.
The “Latvian School Bag” is a state support program for all ages 1-12. A class pupil, including students of vocational education institutions, would have the opportunity to supplement their theoretical knowledge with in-person experience in various events, museums, theaters, concert halls, companies, nature trails and elsewhere.
The opening event was a real joy with a peculiar surprise. “This is a unique opportunity for me to get so many new impressions in such a short time. I’m excited to learn this too. I learned new skills today at the photo workshop and got to know some exciting tricks, ”Lienīte Maija Vaļentova from Upesley School described her day. In turn, teachers predominantly appreciated the new opportunities for children to broaden their horizons and inspire their future career choices. Laima Pamiljane, a teacher at Salaspils Secondary School No. 1, admitted that diversity is the key: “The school bag program offers a wide range of experiences, from learning nature and culture to modern technology. It gives a completely different inspiration, especially to students who are outside Riga and its immediate surroundings. Moreover, it’s just the beginning – the whole year ahead! ”
